  1. Really good interview. Loriana’s techniques involve, short, simple but intelligent questions, which seem to draw out the best for each of the projects that she undertakes. This is a particularly good interview because we get to hear about key issues with disability and all the good work going on to support people locally. The interviewee, Sandra Humphrey, chair of the Uist Disability Access Panel is a quietly sparkling participant.

Given an opportunity to talk about the work of the Disability Access panel in some depth, she speaks clearly and from an experiential base that is engaging.

I love how the interview winds up. Loriana asks about some of Sandra’s passions. Her active life comes to the fore as she lights up telling us about how much she enjoyed doing her HNC and all the people that she meets.

The spirit and self-reliance of the people who live in the Uists and their inter-connectedness underpins her commentary. It is a breath of fresh air and there is a message here for all of us. The framework of Sandra’s thoughts reminds me of the writer Henry David Thoreau. Perhaps there is a link there somewhere via Alaska. What is detailed are some simple facts about the warp and weft of life, communicated in a way that gently captures our attention.

Just lovely, simple, joyful warm interview. Tremendous work.
