Am Pàipear Bumper Issue – Island Voices News

The end of 2010 approaches and the December/January issue of Am Pàipear is published, including news on the progress of Guthan nan Eilean so far and plans and aspirations to develop new ideas and approaches next year.

While the video-making phase of the project will be complete by the year’s end, there is also the prospect of current Gaelic and English classes continuing into the New Year.

The Am Pàipear piece includes breaking news of Cothrom’s successful bid to the Soillse research initiative to conduct an investigation into learning and bilingualism at a local level. This should complement new development work next year.

  1. Nice work, Gordon. The obvious question is: how can we get our mitts on the new video series?

I’m intrigued by the filming west of Uist – did you go to St Kilda? Or maybe even Canada?

    1. Thanks, Fred. Well, it all goes on YouTube to start with, with links to and from this site via the tabs at the top of the page. But there has also been discussion about downloading as well, including on this blog – a discussion to which you usefully contributed. SMO has plenty room to host that, I’m assured. Beyond that, there is also the question of doing a DVD-run, which would be a higher order challenge than with Series One if only because of the sheer volume of material. So, we’d need to get funding for that. Messages of support for that notion would no doubt help in that regard…

West of Uist? Browse the blog, Fred. You should find clues enough…
